The olive industry in Australia is very small and the few large commercial ventures are mainly in Victoria and South Australia. However, given the recent interest in olives and planned plantings, olives could develop into a significant horticulture crop. Currently there are an estimated 2 000 ha producing olives in four states in Australia with the domestic industry worth about $3 million Australian.
