Abstract: This 3 year trial began in 1990 at the request of the Sumich Group Ltd. The CEO at the time, Jack Sumich, believed that while carrot production was on the increase and overseas demand was strong for high quality carrots, the ability of the Western Australian industry to provide high yield and quality from the existing intensive cropping base was declining.
