Abstract: Lupins have tradtionally been grown in rows 18 to 25 cm apart. Recent research has shown that in much of the Western Australian wheatbelt lupins can be grown in wide rows, 50 cm apart, without compromising yield. This Farmnote discusses the varieties of lupins that can be grown in wide rows, the environment in which this is possible, the time of sowing and row spacing needs, the soil types, yield potential, seed rate, fertiliser needed, and methods of weed, pest and disease control.
