The objective of the research project was to provide a reliable method of prescribing the detailed requirements for successfully establishing shrubs, specifically saltbushes, in hazardous environments. Methods of establishment were to include both direct seeding and the transplanting of nursery raised seedlings. The results of this project have shown that the quality of saltbush seed is very variable: samples of seed tested had viabilities ranging from 0 to 80 per cent. A germination test, termed a 'w
