Abstract:
The project was developed in response to both growing concerns about the environmental affects of high phosphorus output in piggery effluents and the potential to lower feed costs by reducing phosphorus supplementation. The project compared a low phosphorus diet (consisting of a typical cereal-based formulation but without phosphorus supplementation) with intermediate-and standard-phosphorus diets with regard to grower/finisher, first parity reproductive and first parity progeny performances.
