Price and yield are major determinants of plantation profitability. Both vary greatly between plantations. Yields range from less than 30 t/ha to more than 50 t/ha. Average return per carton varies by at least $3 (author's estimate) in any month between plantations. The budget is a year-in-year out budget for an established plantation. It may be viewed as a steady state budget. Debt servicing and taxation vary greatly between growers and therefore figures are presented as earnings before interest and taxa
