Abstract: (En)
NOAA satellite data received in Perth are processed into an index of green vegetation cover by the 'Vegetation Watch' project of DOLA and CSIRO. Cloud-free images of this index covering all of Western Australia are produced by combining data from successive overpasses over 14 to 16 day intervals. These images are distributed throughout the State for a variety of applications in vegetation management (e.g. bush fire control, wild flower tourist trips management of fauna and flora and seasonal forecasts forgriculture). In particular the Department of Agriculture processes this information further to provide measures of the variation in seasonal conditions across the whole of Western Australia. For the first time the variation in the response of vegetation
