Abstract: Runoff was most affected by soil type, land management practices, soil moisture content and rainfall intensity. Existing methods for predicting runoff rates and runoff volumes were examined by applying partial series and annual series analysis to the eight catchments studied. Principle component analysis of soil and catchment factors and stepwise multiple regression were used to develop equations to estimate runoff rates and volumes. Efforts are now being made to incorporate soil and catchment factors
