Preliminary assessment has resulted in two of the four crops (Stevia rebaudiana and Chenopodium quinoa) being considered largely unsuitable for production under Western Australian conditions. The potential for Amaranthus caudata lies mainly in our capacity to select and breed lines which will overcome inherent problems, whilst Grindelia camporum possesses the greatest potential and may provide an alternative approach to conventional agriculture in the future.
