Several new serradella cultivars were thought to be capable of filling the pasture legume requirement for the deep sands, where sub-clover has not persisted. Balansa has revealed exciting short term potential in on-farm situations, but requires quantified animal and plant production data. The majority of the data generated in this project was derived from a large scale grazing trial, where serradella and balansa was compared to sub-clover at three stocking rates, on a sandy duplex soil.
