Abstract: Albany's harbours have been suffering from nuisance algal growth since the early seventies. As a result more than half of the seagrasses have been lost, threatening the balance of life in the harbours. Studies also identified the sources of pollutants entering the harbours and defined the amount of pollutants that each of the harbours could cope with. Surveys of the nutrient status of soils, and management practices and attitudes of farmers were undertaken along with stream monitoring and pasture trial
