Abstract:

Provides summary information on the export of livestock from Australia to the Middle East and South East Asia. Data is given on numbers of livestock exported; mortality rates (sheep, goats, cattle); spatial pattern of mortality; high mortality voyages and epidemic spikes. Concludes by examining briefly causes of death; shy feeder syndrome; treatment of shy feeders; and feeding to maintain liveweight.
