Outlines weed density - yield loss relationships for important grass weeds such as wild oats, annual ryegrass, brome grass and barley grass. Discusses the performance of different herbicides in controlling brome grass. Cv. Blade from South Australia was found to have superior tolerance to metribuzin than other currently grown wheat cultivars in Western Australia. Further studies showed that pre-sowing application of metribuzin can selectively control brome grass in wheat. Barley grass control in wheat and arley crops with metribuzin has also been quite encouraging. Research carried out under the current project led to the identification of Bromus rigidus in Western Australia.
