Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus) is an annual fibre crop whose stems can be used for the production of paper pulp. The Government of Western Australia has identified encouraging prospects for a kenaf industry based in the Ord River Irrigation Area (ORIA). It considers that such an industry could supply either Australian or overseas pulp users. Trials have shown that the ORIA can well satisfy the soil, water and climatic requirements of kenaf, and that the crop is well adapted and yields highly. The availabilit
