Abstract: This DVD looks at the Ord River Irrigation Area and the crops grown, uses of crops and some of the problems of growing the crops. There are three types of soils in the area ; a small area of loamy soil near the river; an extensive area of black soil and large areas of sand further away from the river and the irrigation area. The use of the last area is limited. Distance from the cities and the markets effects what the growers can do. There is also a labour shortage. Consequently, only high value crop
