Johne's disease (JD), also know as paratuberculosis, is a contagious disease of ruminant animals, such as cattle, sheep and goats, caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium paratuberculosis. The cause, clinical signs, diagnosis, treatment and control, and biosecurity measures are discussed with particular reference to Western Australia.
