Leptospirosis is a serious disease of livestock and humans, caused by different strains of the bacteria Leptospira. In Western Australia, the most important strains are L. hardjo and L. pomona. A third strain, L. tarassovi (formerly hyos), is also commonly found in stock. This farmnote provides information on symptoms, disease incidence, spread of Leptospirosis, disease diagnosis, treatment, vaccination and occupational safety and health for human.
