Potato virus Y (PVY) has the potential to infect a range of solanaceous crops including potato, capsicum, tomato, tobacco and certain solanaceous weeds, such as blackberry nightshade in Western Australia. Yearly carryover is mainly via potato seed tubers or volunteers. This Factsheet covers disease distribution, symptoms, spread, economic impact and control options.
