White blister rust is a disease caused by the fungus Albugo candida. This fungus affects most plants of the brassica or crucifer family and is widely distributed throughout Australia. A local strain has been discovered in Northern Perth farming properties. This farmnote discusses disease symptoms, how the disease spreads and methods to manage the disease for both seedling production nurseries and vegetable producers, including restricted access by visitors, hygiene measures and regular inspection. Other pctices discussed besides on-farm biosecurity include the rotation of crops, destruction of crops, watering planning measures, increasing ventilation and the control of other fungi.
