A significant area of the Western Australian wheatbelt experienced the driest growing season on record during 2000. This report provides an overview of the 2000 dry season, mechanisms established by the Department of Agriculture Western Australia to respond to the dry season, operation of the responses, resources involved, commentary, lessons learnt and recommendations.
