For pipefish and other syngnathids harvested in Queensland waters as incidental catch in the Queensland East Coast Trawl Fishery to be exported from Australia, there must be a management regime approved under Section 10 of the Wildlife Protection (Regulation of Exports and Imports) Act 1982 administered by Environment Australia. Consequently, this statement of management arrangements contained in law and policy under the Queensland Fisheries Act 1994, has been prepared in order to obtain approval from Environment Australia for export of syngnathids harvested incidentally by trawl nets in Queensland.
