Results of surveys conducted in the major cereal producing areas of Western Australia to assess the potential importance of root nematodes, in particular, Root lesion nematodes and Cereal cyst nematodes. Out of seven species of Root lesion nematodes that were found associated with cereals, Pratylenchus neglectus was most commonly detected followed by Pratylenchus thornei and Pratylenchus zeae. A species of burrowing nematode (Radopholus nativus) was found in high numbers on wheat near Wyalkatchem.
