The objectives of the project were to determine whether the use of electric prodders either on farm, during transport or pre slaughter at the abattoir under commercial conditions will result in inferior pork quality and Pale, Soft Exudative (PSE) pork; to determine whether the use of electric prodders under commercial conditions on farm, during transport or pre slaughter at the abattoir has an additive effect on pork quality and the incidence of PSE pork.
