The pea weevil (Bruchus pisorum) is a serious pest of field peas and the development of resistant cultivars offers an effective and economically attractive means of controlling this pest. This control strategy will also enhance the export potential of field pea. Some accessions of a wild relative (Pisum fulvum) of the field pea have been identified as good sources of resistance to the weevil.
