Abstract:

A list of Australian native species with potential for use as bedding plants was developed. The three highest ranked species based on the industry evaluation were the perennial plants, Dampiera wellsiana, Stylidium macrocarpium and Actinodium cunninghamii. These are extremely attractive in their natural form, however under basic cultural conditions their growth and time to flowering may mot be sufficiently rapid for the seeding sector of the bedding plant market.
