Abstract: (En)
A field investigation of hypothermia in summer shorn sheep in the Avon valley, Western Australia, is described. In January 1990, 11,427 recently shorn sheep died on 13 properties from the effects of 48 h of rain. The crude mortality rate was 25.7 per cent. Crude mortality rate was related to factors such as, days from shearing and sex distribution, whereas age and availability of paddock shelter did not influence mortality. Crude mortality rates of sheep were greatest in animals one week post-shearing
