Abstract: In general, wheat and lupin seed with low concentrations of P (low seed) produced crops with smaller shoot and grain yields than crops grown from high P seed. However, yield differences were not observed in every experiment. The following observations were made : The effect of seed P concentration on growth tended to be large during early stages of plant growth but decreased as the plant aged ; Yield differences between crops grown from low and high P seed were largest when P fertilizer was not applied.
