Beef enterprises are likely to be significantly more profitable in the South-West and Lower Great Southern than sheep. Of the beef enterprises, those based on fattening store steers can be expected to be the most profitable. There is likely to be a role for both South-West weaners and pastoral weaner steers in fattening enterprises in the two areas.
