Abstract: Over a period of three years weight gains of a .70kg per day were obtained with 6.25 animals per hectare and .65kg per day with 7.5 animals per hectare. At stocking rates higher than this cattle could not be finished. There was some evidence that the narrower row spacing (.9m) allowed higher weight gains at the higher stocking rate of 7.5m. However the increased management problems associated with this close spacing mitigate against it being recommended to farmers. The nitrogen concentration of the le
