Pest snails and slugs can damage seed plant seeds, underground tubers, leaves and fruit. The seedling stage is the most vulnerable and pest damage can often lead to major losses. This Garden note discusses the common garden snail (Helix aspersa), the green snail (Helix aperta), the white Italian snail (Theba pisana), the vineyard snail (Cernuella virgata), the small pointed snails (Cochlicella barbara), pointed snails (Cochlicella acuta) and slugs of various species, as well as the biology of snails and s gs and some control measures in Western Australia.
