Since the initiation of this project there has been a marked increase in the quantity of wheats grown in Western Australia that attract a price premium. In 1996 over 90% of wheats planted in Western Australia were quality wheats (A.Hard, ASWN, A.Soft or APW varieties) compared with 35% in 1992. Sixteen demonstrations were conducted to show the benefits of growing quality wheats and how they fit into the farming system. Through this project growers have been encouraged to target segregations based on th tside of the market specifications or receival standards.
