In 1995/96 milk production in Western Australia was 341 million litres and was valued at $134 million at the farm gate. The dairy industry is one of the highest value adding rural industries. The Western Australian dairy industry is situated in the south-west corner of the State, mainly within 50 km of the coast from south of Perth to Albany.
