Caseous lymphadenitis (CLA) is a disease of sheep, causing abscesses in lymph nodes, lung tissue, and occasionally other organs. The disease causes significant losses on the farm and in the abattoir as well as posing a potential threat to Australia's live sheep industry totalling $25-30M annually. A previous CLA project identified that dipping influenced the level of new CLA Ifections. Shower dipping increased the risk of having a high CLA incidence by 5 times.
