The objectives of this study were to investigate judgements made about the tactical grazing use (stocking rate) of the rangeland resource and the change in condition of that resource over time (range trend). Social Judgment Theory, a paradigm developed for the description of judgment behaviour, was used for judgment analysis in the study. Factors of importance (cues) in land management judgment and decision making were obtained from 135 pastoralists and 21 rangeland advisers in Western Australia and Southustralia using mail qwuestionnaire. Multiple regression techniques were used with subjects' judgments and the environmental (technical) cues in the extraction of subjects' individual "judgment policies".
