The optimum flowering or heading period for a range of locations in the Western Australian wheatbelt was established using data from field experiments over three years. In general the 'window' was earlier in short seasons, dry and northern environments and later in longer season, wetter and southern environments. Grain yields of most cultivars at most locations declined almost linearly with sowings after early May. Location appeared to be a more dominant influence in determining the trend of yield on sowi
