Due to inadequate data, it was difficult to conclude which control procedure was most economically sound for some apple varieties. However, for most varieties at both the Mount Barker and Donnybrook sites, exclusion netting proved to be the best option. There were two exceptions. At Mount Barker, it was more efficient not to control birds, damaging the Granny Smith variety. The optimal control procedure for the Granny Smith variety at Donnybrook was to shoot.
