Abstract: A number of aspects which might influence the buildup of spider mites in cotton are investigated. This thesis concentrates on 3 different areas. Chemical control of bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera) and its impact on spider mites and their predators ; acaricidal control and the importance of spider mite infestations during the various developmental stages of cotton plants. ; and an incorporation of some aspects of the life system of spider mites into a simulation model.
