A decision tool for farmers and farm advisers to use in identifying and quantifying soil problems in poor performing paddocks in Western Australia. The decision tree provides diagnostic keys for non-wetting sandy soils and poor pale deep sands, waterlogging, soil pH (acidic or sodic soils), hardsetting, crusting or surface sealing soils and traffic pans, hard pans and other restrictions to root growth.
