The aim of the project was to determine the significance and variability of weed seed predation in an agricultural landscape in Western Australia. An average of 83 per cent of annual ryegrass (Lolium rigidum) seed and 46 per cent of wild radish (Raphanus raphanistrum) pods were removed over a four months period in a field in Merredin. A total of 32 species of ant was found throughout the field of which 5 were identified as having potential as biological control agents.
