Two experiments were conducted by the Animal Health Laboratories, Agriculture Western Australia to evaluate the efficacy of a new intra-ruminal controlled release device (CRD) developed for the prevention of annual ryegrass toxicity (ARGT) in livestock. The CRD contained, and released at a steady rate, a chemical that binds the corynetoxins (CT), the poisons that cause ARGT, rendering them unavailable for absorption from the gastrointestinal tract.
