Abstract: As estimated from the amount of phosphorus required to produce 90 per cent of the maximum yield, 4 comparisons of P requirement were made in the pot experiments. The 2 species had similar P requirements for 2 of these, and T. balansae required 40 per cent more P and 50 per cent less P than T. subterraneum on the other 2 occasions. In dense swards in the field experiments, T. balansae required from 12 to 750 per cent more P to produce 90 per cent of the maximum yield than T. subterraneum. Compared with
