Zinc sulphate is often added to dip solution for preventing dermatophilosis which may be spread during any procedure that holds wet sheep in close confinement. However, the effect of zinc sulphate on the efficacy of dipping was not evaluated when the practice was first recommended. Reports from farmers and in the scientific literature suggested that zinc sulphate caused flocculation of dip solution made from cloudy dam water with a subsequent reduction in the concentration of insecticide in the supernat
