Abstract: Nitrogen fertilizer application increased dry matter production at anthesis but there were no differences between nitrogen treatments, and no difference between treatments in the proportional distribution of dry matter between heads, leaves and stesms. At 18 weeks after sowing the treatment receiving repeated nitrogen applications had a higher proportion of dry matter and nitrogen in the leaves, than the other treatments.
