The aims of the project were to evaluate the long term effects of no tillage/no tillage furrow sowing on crop production, income and soil conditions on hard setting or water repellent soils; to assess deep ripping, spring fallow or stubble retention on the hard setting soils and the use of new surfactants on the water repellent soils; to develop and test new designs of disc openers for improved establishment and growth and no weed seed burial.
