A field pea breeding project in Western Australia started in 1988 with special focus on the short season environment and later became incorporated in the GRDC's Australian Coordinated Pea Improvement Program (ACPIP. The project aim was to develop varieties of merit for the western region with particular focus on short season environment. The following varieties have been released: King, Magnet, Cooke and Helena.
