Abstract: The project identified a range of measures available to keep the level of Brown spot and Pleiochaeta root rot (PRR) at aceptable levels. Of primary importance to the farmer is deciding on the disease risk and choosing an appropriate rotation on an individual paddock basis. Generally, the risk, of yield loss due to Brown spot increases in the colder and the shorter growing season parts of the wheatbelt and on less favourable soil types. The severity of PRR is influenced mainly by the soil spore populati rate sowing depth of 4-5 cm and avoiding disc plough cultivation.
